Animation! (Finally!)

Curvy Person from Cristina Sam Amin on Vimeo.

Some bit of animation for my class. The cat in the background is important, though I didn't make it nearly noticeable. I did this over the course of one day, and it was extremely pleasant...though I do wish I'd worked on it longer.

Color and Design Pan

One of our final projects for Color and Design: a 60-inch wide, 10-inch high painting composed of two 30-by-10 strips of illustration board. I had plenty of fun with this--we were allowed to use whatever means we wished, which meant we didn't necessarily have to do fancy painting. I'm particular to washes and ink--nice, basic stuff--so that's what I went with. I didn't spend as much time as I wanted to getting all the grays nice and distinct in shade, and I forgot to do that before scanning, so some of the grays meld together. Nrrgh.

The 'pan' is of my lonely electron fellow peering out into a subatomic world populated by particles and other worlds which he is absolutely denied. He has no company.

Here's the rough sketch!

(You can click on any of these to make them larger).

Completed Sculpture

He's a little rough around the edges, and his paint job is rather plain, but hey--this is what I got. I'm rather pleased...Next time I sculpt I hope to have more time, and certainly, to be more adventurous.
His drawn-on face looks really silly, but I didn't have any more yellow paint to cover it with. Nrrrr. All the same, this is the electron fellow. He's holding the rag which he uses to scrub orbital walls with (i.e.: toilet paper).
Katelyn bought me the base...when she got it for me, she was under the impression that my electron was much larger and bought the largest base Michael's carried. It worked out though...since he's a sad, lonely electron, I just painted it black and tossed him off to one side of it. Ta-da!

Preview!

My electron fellow! He's already painted and everything, but he's in my dorm and I don't have photos of him all done. I turn 'im in tomorrow.

Sunset

With fake shadows. I'm having trouble figuring out the perspective for the shadows on the larger image, so I'll just print it out plain and add them in pencil... I'm trying to learn how to color in Photoshop, so I decided to give it a shot for this week's Perspective assignment.
Also: ridiculous colors.

I did this similar sketch back in June (the 5th, to be exact--so long ago!). Oh, MS Paint.

The timing's too even....uhhhhhhggg. Also, I haven't figured out a proper ending yet, so I've just tossed something in for the time being.
